The Inn Keepers

Welcome to The Alpine House and to Jackson Hole.

Hans and Nancy Johnstone

We built the first part of our Jackson Hole lodge in 1994 as a seven room bed and breakfast, and expanded in 2001 to the twenty-two room lodge that we now have. In 2009, we renovated five cottages on Flat Creek, making The Alpine House Lodge and Cottages what it is today.

Through our travels, we set out to build a place in Jackson Hole that reflected the kind of hospitality you find in the small mountain towns of Europe. All the places we stayed were family owned, and each one had its own distinct charm. You could always count on a fluffy duvet and a welcoming atmosphere. You felt a connection to the area through your stay, since these small hotels were a reflection of the mountain way of life.

We both had the privilege of representing the United States in the Winter Olympics. Hans was a six year member of the U.S. Ski Team and competed in the Nordic Combined event at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary, Canada. He is an accomplished climber and ski mountaineer, with many first ascents and ski descents in the Tetons. Hans works as a guide for Exum Mountain Guides. Nancy was a six year member of the U.S. Biathlon Team and competed in the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, France.

We make our home in Jackson Hole where we live, work and play with our three children.

We hope you will feel at home at The Alpine House.

See you soon!
