EXPERIENCES
Founded in 2017 by Erik Warner, the Uncommon Art Residency brings artists from across the country together to create, collaborate, and connect. After launching at Sound View Greenport on Long Island, the program expanded to the Anvil Hotel in 2020 and now calls Alpine House home.
The residency supports artists across disciplines through performances, exhibitions, lectures, and open studio sessions. By sharing their work and creative process with guests and the local community, each resident helps foster meaningful connections and new perspectives.
About THE RESIDENCY
For the past seven years, the residency has welcomed a diverse array of contemporary artists, musicians, composers, playwrights, and craftsmen. Through immersive exploration of their crafts and the unique influence of their surroundings, residents have birthed fresh perspectives and transformative work. The merging of location, community, and creativity has resulted in a dynamic exchange that shapes both the artists and the locales they engage with.
In Jackson Hole, Travis Walker, the Director of the Uncommon Art Residency, orchestrates this inspiring program with the support of local partners, including the Art Association of Jackson Hole & the Center For The Arts. A full-time artist and founder of Teton ArtLab, Travis ensures that the residency thrives within the rich cultural fabric of the region. Artists are invited to work in the vibrant studios of the Art Association’s Center for the Arts, where the rugged landscape and creative spirit of Jackson Hole inspire groundbreaking new works.
